Topic Two: Pattern and Ornament, Part 2 of 2 (Assignment #4 Quadrant Abstraction)  Quadrant Abstraction (Stable Leg): Christina Bernadotte, 2018 (11 x 15 in.) Progress: This was my progress in the course of the week. Textures: These are the textures derive from my piece. Chair Drawing #1: The chair drawing I derived my design into the quadrant abstraction is the frontal position. Quadrant A: I was assigned quadrant A which is located at the bottom right of the frontal design of the chair. Process:    After completing my chair drawing, I incorporated the chair design #1: frontal position into my abstraction piece " Stable Leg" . I planned out my concept in which my piece will derive from the chair leg (the concept is explained in the summary). Topic 3: The Rhinoceros - Part One (The first Lisbon or ' Dürer' rhinoceros of 1515) Questions: Albrecht Diirer, The Rhinoceros, woodcut, first edition, 1515  4.  The text compares the woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer and Hans Burgkmair; which of the two woodcuts do you prefer and why?  Between the two woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer and Hans Burgkmair, I prefer the woodcut by Albrecht Dürer. Albrecht woodcut illustrated precisely outline the noteworthy quality of physical elaborative details and more polished than Hans Burgkmair. The rhinoceros displayed is very distinctive and captivating with the particular markings. Even if Albrecht hasn't witnessed the rhinoceros in person, nonetheless he was able to encapsulate the true innate nature of the creature. Topic Two: Pattern and Ornament, Part 2 of 2 - Assignment #2 (Chair Drawings: frontal, side, and top view)  Chair Drawings: Chair Drawing #1: Frontal view Chair Drawing #2: Side view Chair Drawing #3: Top view Reflection:    After reconfiguring a design of a chair pattern to make a creation that exceeds my own vision. I modify the chair with an embellishment of intricate diamond-shaped details. I retain the outline structure of an Eames chair. On the three opposite sides of the chair and the located in the center of the chair is formulated designed for stretchable spongy cushion knots. I centralize the colors of turquoise, yellow, purple, black, and gray. Woven are triangular patterns encircling the bases of the chair and the diamond-shaped details. Topic Two: Pattern and Ornament, Part 2 of 2 - Assignment #3 (Greyscale Repeat Pattern) Greyscale Repeat Pattern Design: This is a design I outline in class to formulate my greyscale repeat pattern design( I applied some revision to the design). This is completed greyscale repeat pattern showcase above. Reflection:      After completely laying out an elaborative design I was quite skeptical at the beginning of how effective this design will reveal. The results were accurately shown. I was hesitant because I was afraid my line won't show when there were copied. Overall, this assignment allows me to quicken my pace and place simplicity components of design with the flower seen as the focal point.

Topic Two: Pattern and Ornaments - In-class exercises (Directed Drawings: three & 2D-3D translation); Replicating my classmate's 3D Model In-class exercises #1 The in-class exercise was complex and I try to understand the angles and measurements of the lines. In-class exercises #2 In-class exercise #2 it resembles a smiley face with one eye winking but, I know the size of the hexagon is rather large when it should be quite smaller.  In-class exercises #3 I really took delight in-class exercise #3 because I was able to create a design where we try to study your movements without any verbal directions.  The 2D-to-3D translation I decided to create a 3D model for in-class exercise #1. I was quite astonished by the outcome. The making of this design shown above was complex. I carefully observe each part and detail of the design to replicate it with vivid materials.
