Tarot Card 

Morning Coffee
     
Summary:
I was assigned to create an image based on a paratactical phrase that I choose during class which is by the past, the food moment, and the future. I created a full-color image of a food moment depicted from the paratactical phrase in my own style and the size requirement was 5x7 inches. I used gouache, graphite, and micro pens to create this piece. My practical phrase portrays the espresso of the coffee being stirred in the morning. In this piece, I established the stirring of the spoon in the coffee to reveal the image of the sun being swirls and in the background represents the intensity of rays from sun correlating to being energized by having a sip of coffee in the morning. The upper left part of the cup presents the depiction of the front of a boat. The lower part of the cup exhibits water. Moreover, the plate in which the coffee is position on represents sand, the coffee beans symbolizes shells, and the table is shown as dirt.

Topic One: The Tough Question- Third Assignment: Open Project  Title: Life's Patches    Christina Bernadotte, 2018 (22 x 24 in.) Summary:      For the open project assignment, I created a piece called "Life's Patches". This piece symbolizes my path, present, and future goals that I have accomplished or will accomplish. I wanted to represent something not necessarily unfinished, but rather something to be discovered. I feel my life revolves around my personal blanket as we grow more opportunities will be given that will be stitched into my blanket. For instance, if you look closely at the patches one display the painting of  "Frida" by Romero Britto was a gift given to me by the artist after I completed my internship in his studio. Topic Two: Pattern and Ornaments - In-class exercises (Directed Drawings: three & 2D-3D translation); Replicating my classmate's 3D Model In-class exercises #1 The in-class exercise was complex and I try to understand the angles and measurements of the lines. In-class exercises #2 In-class exercise #2 it resembles a smiley face with one eye winking but, I know the size of the hexagon is rather large when it should be quite smaller.  In-class exercises #3 I really took delight in-class exercise #3 because I was able to create a design where we try to study your movements without any verbal directions.  The 2D-to-3D translation I decided to create a 3D model for in-class exercise #1.
